Ante Granić – THE ANCIENT SAGA OF OMIŠ
1. ODYSSEY AT THE CETINA MOUTH
Following the study of Homerologist Dr. Milan Ristanović “Odysseus’ Wanderings on the Adriatic”, Concordance with the views of Aristides Vučetić and Vladimir Kolar
The ILIAD, the ODYSSEY, and the BIBLE
Young people in particular need to understand that the Bible is the most translated and printed book, but also that it is a spiritual source only for Christians, and that the Iliad and the Odyssey are the common spiritual good of humanity: pillars of our civilization and timeless artistic creations of a genius, the kind that, as historical facts indicate, is born every 5,000 years

THE GREEK AND ODYSSEUS’ SAILORS
There is an anecdote that says that the spirit of distant centuries still lives among the people of Omiš. They say that a Greek came to Omiš on vacation and beat up a man from Omiš in the current tunnel at the Stone Gate. The police took him in and asked him why he did it. The Greek replied that he did it because the people of Omiš stoned Odysseus’ sailors and robbed the Greek ships!? “Well, God saw you, first of all, who knows if it’s true, and if it is, it was almost 3,000 years ago,” the policeman tells him. And the Greek defends himself: “Well, I don’t know when it was, but I only heard about it two days ago in Omiš…
3. THE GOLDEN FLEECE FROM THE CETINA RIVER
Why did some Homerologists link the Golden Rune legend to the lower reaches of the Cetina River? Georgian and Armenian legends mention “brothers from the Balkans”
LINGUISTIC ARCHAEOLOGY
Many toponyms in Bosnia and Herzegovina have survived from the ancient times we are talking about, such as: Greek mines, Greek cemeteries, although the Greek foot never set foot there. There are also many “shoulders”, “swallows” and many examples of “linguistic archaeology”, etc. Greek cemeteries, however, cannot exist, because the Greeks burned their dead. The entire Balkans is, in this sense, one great scientific enigma. The migrations “until the seventh century” are just a continuation of something that already existed thousands of years earlier.
4. STONE GATE AND LESTRYGON
The gate at the mouth of the Cetina River completely matches Homer’s Telepylis, Ristanović’s reconstruction.
5. ODYSSEUS STILL LIVES TODAY!
On the trail of ancient wanderings, the Trojan horse, the cult of the snake against evil spirits, numerous enigmas, the wishes of Doctor Ristanović
AT THE SOURCE OF ATRAKIA
At this place, according to Dr. Ristanović, there is the Homeric source of Atraki, and it is there that Odysseus’ sailors met the beautiful princess, daughter of King Antiphatus, ruler of the Lestrigon people, who controlled the Cetinska Canal and the Stone Gate almost three millennia ago. At the source of Atraki, mentioned by many navigators and chroniclers even after Homer (today concreted and captured in a temporary water supply), photojournalist Ivo Ravlić, after almost 3,000 years ago, in the same place where Odysseus’ sailors met the Lestrigon princess, he filmed today’s Omis beauty Matka Stanić, an employee of the Nestos tourist agency, whose agency premises also contain the remains of the oldest wall in Omiš.
